Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed boosting cooperation across food security in a meeting with an Italian delegation on Thursday. The Prime Minister began the meeting by affirming the strength of Egyptian-Italian relations at the political and economic levels.

He highlighted that both countries are keen to work together across the fields of land reclamation, crop cultivation, and agricultural industrialization.

Madbouly expressed his appreciation for Italy’s advanced technologies that can bring great added value to land reclamation projects.

He added that Egypt has already opened vast areas from the reclaimed lands we rely on to achieve food security and within a few years they hope to add almost 3 million agricultural acres.

Earlier last week, the Agriculture Export Council showed that Egyptian agricultural trade witnessed significant growth during the 2022/2023 season with an increase of 24.6% in agricultural exports to hit $3.566 billion from the previous season’s $2.860 billion.

Moreover, Italian investments in Egypt increased by 40.3% during Q1 of FY 2021/22, reaching $448.8 million.
