The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the Arab countries reached $26 billion in 2023, compared to $29.5 billion in 2022, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
According to CAPMAS, the value of Egyptian exports to Arab countries reached $13.6 billion during 2023, compared to $12.5 billion during 2022.
In 2023, Egypt's exports to Arab countries saw Saudi Arabia emerge as the leading importer, with a total value of $2.7 billion, followed by the UAE with $2.2 billion, Libya with $1.8 billion, Sudan with $984.4 million, and Algeria with $850.3 million, respectively.
The most important Egyptian commodities exported to Arab countries during 2023: vegetables and fruits worth $1.3 billion, Machinery and electrical appliances worth $1.1 billion, pearls, gemstones and jewelry worth $1 billion, fuel, mineral oils and their distillation products worth $753 million, plastics and their products worth $712 million.
In 2023, Egypt's exports to Arab countries were led by vegetables and fruits topped the list with a value of $1.3 billion.
This was followed by machinery and electrical appliances at $1.1 billion, pearls, gemstones, and jewelry at $1 billion, fuel and mineral oils at $753 million, and plastics and their products at $712 million.
Furthermore, the value of Egyptian imports from Arab countries reached $12.4 billion during 2023, compared to $17 billion during 2022.
In 2023, Saudi Arabia topped the list of Arab countries exporting to Egypt, with imports valued at $5.2 billion. Kuwait followed with $2.7 billion, the UAE with $2.1 billion, Oman with $717.4 million, and Bahrain with $399.5 million.
The value of Arab countries’ investments in Egypt recorded $7.3 billion during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $8.2 billion during the fiscal year 2021/2022.
The UAE led Arab countries in investment in Egypt during the fiscal year 2022/2023, with investments totaling $3 billion. Following closely was Saudi Arabia with $2.4 billion, Kuwait with $632.6 million, Qatar with $548.2 million, and Bahrain with $337 million.
