Egypt’s annual inflation rate recorded 36.4% in November compared to 38.5% in October 2023, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The general consumer price index for the entire republic reached 191.8 points in November 2023.
The reasons for this decline are due to the decline in the prices of the meat and poultry group by 1.5%, the fruit group by 3.5%, the vegetables by 4.7%, transportation services group by 2.3%, hotel services group by 0.3%
Egypt's annual urban consumer price inflation dropped to 34.6% in November from 35.8% in October, pulled down by a slowdown in the rate of food price increases, data from CAPMAS showed.
The monthly inflation rate for the total republic reached 0.9% for the month of November 2023, compared to 1.2% for the month of September 2023.
On a yearly basis, food and beverage prices increased by 63.9% and on a monthly basis the food prices increased by 0.1%
In October, a price reduction initiative was launched by the Egyptian government to curb inflation and promote price stability, ensuring citizens experience tangible relief from the high costs of essential goods.
