Egypt signed a total of 13 agreements with local and international companies on the third day of the TransMEA 2023 in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Kamel Al Wazir.
These agreements span across the fields of maritime transport and ports, trade, dry ports, green transportation and logistics zones.
The agreements come with the Ministry of Transport’s to implement a number of logistical corridors making Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
In addition to that, these agreements also come within Egypt’s efforts to make its urban transportation system more sustainable and environmentally friendly, maximize citizens’ use of public transportation and reduce the use of private cars to reduce the demand for fossil fuels.
The agreements included two framework agreements in the field of investment and local manufacturing of the train frequency transport system, technology transfer, local manufacturing, supply and maintenance of spark plugs.
Transport minister witnessed the signing of a contract and cooperation protocol and the issuance of a license in the field of land transport, a contract for the unified card project for all means of transportation and a cooperation protocol between the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority and the National Bank of Egypt.
Among the agreements was also the issuance of licenses to practice freight broker activity for land transportation of goods using E-gate information technology.
During TransMEA’s third day, 3 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed in the field of establishing, managing and operating the Kom Abu Radi dry port with Samcrete Group and logistics zones in 6th of October with Orchid Company and a logistics zone in Salloum city with the Libyan-Egyptian Alliance.
The 13 agreements included the signing of 3 MoUs, a cooperation agreement, and a declaration of intent in the field of maritime transport with international ports and shipping companies.
