The ongoing development portfolio of the Ministry of International Cooperation (MOIC) includes establishing clean water projects worth $4.741 billion, Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, stated during her participation in the Water Investment Forum.

Within the framework of providing clean water for Egyptians, MOIC intends to provide 30 projects for water security, which represent 19.5% of the total official development aid portfolio, including 9 projects for the Ministry of Irrigation, and 21 projects for the Ministry of Housing.

The MOIC minister participated in the opening session of the Water Investment Forum within the framework of the partnership between Egypt and the European Union, which was organized by the European Union within the activities of the 6th edition of Cairo Water Week.

Al-Mashat confirmed Egypt's keenness to strengthen international partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development partners in the water sector based on state ownership and priorities.

She pointed out that Egypt launched the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, Egypt Vision 2030, as well as the National Strategy for Climate Change 2050 to enhance investments in the water sector.

Water projects are a priority for Egypt to enhance water security. In this regard, the MOIC launched Egypt's Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy (NWFE) during the COP27 climate conference, the Minister of International Cooperation stated.

Earlier in October, the MOIC reported that within the framework of Egypt's Country Platform NWFE, Egypt will implement renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 10 gigawatts and investments of $10 billion within 5 years. This will replace 10 thermal power plants with a capacity of 5 gigawatts.
