CAIRO - 13 August 2023: Palestinian investments in Egypt surged 133.4% during the fiscal year 2021/2022, reaching $2.5 million, compared to $1.1 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS revealed that the trade exchange between Egypt and Palestine rose 12.2 percent during the first five months of 2023 to reach $200 million, compared to $178.3 million during the same period in 2022.
It elaborated that the Egyptian exports to Palestine increased to $200 million during the first 5 months of 2023, compared to $177.9 million during the same period in 2022, marking a growth rate of 12.4%.
Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from Palestine declined 93.2% to $22,000, compared to $323,000 during the same period in 2022.
Regarding the top 10 commodity groups exported from Egypt to Palestine during the first five months of 2023, sugar and its products ranked first with a value of $23.6 million, followed by vegetable preparations with a value of $15.8 million, iron and steel with a value of $15.6 million, live animals with a value of $15.2 million, salt and sulfur with a value of $14.4 million, dairy and dairy product manufacturing with a value of $13 million, mill products with a value of $12.2 million, grain or flour or starch-based preparations with a value of $9.8 million, vegetables and plants with a value of $9.6 million, and animal and vegetable fats, oils, and waxes with a value of $6.9 million.
