Schneider Electric has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Youthinkgreen Egypt to become the technological partner of the ClimAccelerator program, the first of its kind in Egypt, which involves 12 startups with the support of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB).

The MoU is part of Schneider Electric's commitment to building and developing the capabilities and skills of Egyptian youth in the fields of entrepreneurship, energy management, and clean technology, in line with the company's long-term sustainability commitments.

Investment in future generations is one of the most important commitments to enable young people and support innovative ideas and entrepreneurs in the field of clean energy.

As part of the MoU, Schneider Electric experts will train and guide startup entrepreneurs in clean technology on energy management fundamentals and applications, developing their technological skills to reduce the environmental impact of their projects, while encouraging them to design unconventional solutions to combat climate change and promote sustainability through innovative methods.

Saif Eldamerdash, Vice President of Residential and Distribution sector for Schneider Electric in North East Africa and the Levant, stated that "Schneider Electric continues its leadership role and ongoing commitment to training and developing the skills of promising Egyptian youth in entrepreneurship and startups in clean technology, as climate change becomes an increasing global challenge.”

“Our collaboration with Youthinkgreen Egypt as a technological partner for the ClimAccelerator program confirms this role, especially since the program's objectives align closely with the sustainability strategy implemented by the company, as we strive to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050, enhance learning, improve the efficiency and skills of each generation of young people, and pave the way for future generations,” Eldamerdash added.

The Schneider Electric experts will provide an overview of the latest energy management techniques and methods, and will help participants develop their solutions and technological ideas for clean technology startups. The program aims to contribute to building a sustainable future for Egypt and the Middle East by supporting young entrepreneurs in the field of clean energy.

In October 2021, Schneider Electric announced its new sustainability commitments to accelerate progress towards a sustainable and equitable future for all, including a pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, as part of its broader efforts to combat climate change.

The company aims to reduce emissions by 70% by 2025 and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, which will make Schneider Electric one of the first companies of its size and industry to achieve carbon neutrality.

It is noted that Youthinkgreen Egypt is a youth-led Egyptian community company that was founded in 2013 by a team of professionals and workers in the field of environment, climate change, and sustainability.

The company considers Egyptian youth as the driving force for sustainable development in Egypt, based on locally created solutions. The company's message is to train and empower Egyptian youth to apply sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions to deal with the most pressing challenges in the field of sustainability, through the design and organization of practical programs according to the highest international standards for training, integrating youth, and developing their skills in these areas.
