Gamea emphasized the engineering industries sector as one of the most important productive sectors in the national economy, contributing to providing the needs of both the local and international markets, noting that Egypt has great industrial potential to compete in regional and global markets.

In September, Egypt’s non-oil exports climbed by 16% to hit $2.6 billion, with imports declining by 7% to record $4.9 billion, while it saw a 24% increase in growth in the 10 months of 2021.

The trade minister added that promoting Egyptian exports to foreign markets is one of her ministry’s top priorities, particularly in light of the great interest that the government leaders attach to the export portfolio.

The trade ministry recently announced it would be terminating support on import duties on iron billets, steel rebar, and aluminum products.
