MoIC reviews Network for Integrated Development’s 3rd phase with UNDP

Launched in 2021, the project achieved several developments through joint work with 75 non-governmental organizations

Reviewing the 3rd phase of Egypt’s Network for Integrated Development (ENID) project for 2022-2026, Minister of International Cooperation Dr.Rania Al Mashat held a meeting with representatives from the United Nations Development program, ENID, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ENID, which is being implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of International Cooperation and the United Nations Program Enhancement, aims to support the Egyptian government’s efforts towards meeting its sustainable development goals.

Launched in 2021, the project achieved several developments through joint work with 75 non-governmental organizations, creating an integrated model to develop rural villages, said Al Mashat.

Currently, the project serves around 70 villages, supporting more than 100,000 beneficiaries both directly and indirectly. These come within the framework of 9 of Egypt’s sustainable development goals, including improving basic services, encouraging small and medium-sized businesses, and sustainable agricultural development.

The 3rd phase of the project for 2022-2026, comes within the presidential initiative “Haya Karima” to improve citizens’ lives overall, as well as promoting joint work with development partners to support the state's priorities, stimulating productive activities and the private sector, and supporting value chains and employment in Upper Egypt.

The MoIC minister highlighted Egypt’s focus on developing human capital as a top priority to drive sustainable development efforts.

During the meeting, Dr. Heba Hindousa, Executive Director of the Egypt Integrated Development Network, presented a presentation on the targets of the third phase, which aimed at creating more employment opportunities for youth and women in the targeted governorates of Sohag, Qana and Luxor, as well as expanding the scope of beneficiaries in a number of other governorates, as well as boosting productivity value chains are being developed in targeted areas.

Founded in 2021, ENID aims to build repeatable development models that create effective and sustainable job opportunities that enhance economic empowerment for poor families, women, and young farmers in Upper Egypt.

The network is considered a joint project between the Ministry of International Cooperation and the UN Development Program, and several development partners cooperate to support Egypt's integrated development network.
