Egypt mobile wallet transactions hit EGP 4T as user base climbs to 60M in 2025

Egypt’s mobile wallet transactions have surged to around EGP 4 trillion by the end of 2025, according to the Central Bank of Egypt, reflecting strong growth in digital payments across the country.
 
The central bank said the number of mobile wallets reached 60 million by the end of 2025, up from 15.2 million in 2019, highlighting a rapid expansion in financial inclusion and digital financial services.
 
The data showed a steady year-on-year increase, with mobile wallets rising to 19.8 million in 2020, 25.2 million in 2021, and 30.4 million in 2022.
 
Growth continued through 2023 and 2024, reaching 39.4 million and 50.4 million wallets respectively, before climbing to 60 million by the end of 2025.
