EGX30 slips 0.35% as Egyptian investors turn net sellers

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark EGX30 declining 0.35% to 53,442 points as selling pressure from local investors weighed on the market.
 
Egyptian investors were net sellers, recording outflows of EGP 275.7 million, while Arab and foreign investors remained net buyers with net purchases of EGP 45.5 million and EGP 230.2 million, respectively.
 
The EGX Shariah Index fell 0.73% to 6,012 points, while the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index dropped 1.03% to 18,233 points. In contrast, the EGX35-LV index advanced 0.85% to 6,315 points, while the broader EGX100 index gained 0.91% to close at 24,035 points.
 
The market capitalization of listed companies stood at EGP 3.936 trillion at the close of trading. 
 
Meanwhile, total trading value reached EGP 11.9 billion, with 2.6 billion shares changing hands through approximately 260,600 transactions.
 
Among the day's strongest performers, Glaxo Smith Kline topped the gainers after its shares jumped 20%, followed closely by Alexandria Flour Mills, which rose 19.99%. 
 
Catalyst Partners Middle East advanced 15.01%, while General Company for Land Reclamation, Development and Reconstruction climbed 13.61%. Arabian Metal Industries and Industrial Investments also posted solid gains, rising 8.7%.
 
On the downside, El Kahera Housing led the losers, falling 7.65%, followed by Arab Real Estate Investment (ALICO), which declined 7.63%. El Shams Housing and Urbanization lost 6.22%, while Aspire Capital Holding for Financial Investments and Zahraa Maadi Investment and Development retreated 6.01% and 5.66%, respectively.
