EGX closes week higher as main index gains 0.79%, market cap adds EGP 17B

The main index rose 0.79% to 52,375 points, while the EGX70 index for small and mid-cap stocks gained 0.74% to 13,819 points.

Egypt’s stock market ended Thursday’s session, and the week, on a broadly positive note, with all indices closing higher, led by the benchmark EGX30.
 
The main index rose 0.79% to 52,375 points, while the EGX70 index for small and mid-cap stocks gained 0.74% to 13,819 points. The broader EGX100 index climbed 0.72% to 19,351 points, and EGX35-LV edged up 0.28%. The Sharia index also increased 0.25% to 5,528 points.
 
Market capitalisation rose to around EGP 3.620 trillion, up from EGP 3.603 trillion in the previous session, recording gains of about EGP 17 billion.
 
Trading activity saw a total turnover of EGP 12.88 billion, with around 3 billion securities traded across 234,500 transactions.
 
Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers, with inflows of EGP 25.7 million and EGP 43.7 million, respectively, while Arab investors recorded net sales of EGP 69.4 million.
 
Among top gainers, General Company for Ceramic & Porcelain rose 13.7%, followed by QALA for Financial Investments (+8.6%) and Egyptian Arabian(Themar)Comp. For Securities&Bonds Brok. EAC (+8.25%). South Valley Cement and Alexandria National Company for Financial Investment also posted notable gains.
 
On the downside, Suez Canal Company for Technology Settling led decliners, falling 7.94%, followed by Delta for Printing & Packaging (-3.95%) and Misr Cement (Qena) (-3.65%). Other losses included Misr Chemical Industries and Heliopolis Housing.
