Egypt’s exports rose by 37.4% year-on-year in June 2026 to $5 billion, up from $3.6 billion in the same month last year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In its monthly foreign trade bulletin, CAPMAS attributed the increase to strong growth across several key export categories. Petroleum product exports surged by 128%, while ready-made garment exports rose by 47.7%. Fresh fruit exports increased by 77.1%, while pasta and various food preparations climbed by 36.5%.
Meanwhile, exports of several commodities declined during the month. Fertilizer exports fell by 12%, pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical preparations by 13.2%, dried legumes by 42.6%, and fresh onions by 0.4% compared with June 2025.
On the import side, Egypt’s imports jumped by 49.4% year-on-year to $12.4 billion in June, compared with $8.3 billion a year earlier.
The increase was driven by higher imports of several commodities, including raw materials of iron or steel, which rose by 3.6%, crude oil by 141%, passenger cars by 10.9%, and plastics in primary forms by 41.6%.
In contrast, imports of petroleum products declined by 29.2%, wheat by 9.7%, raw sugar by 37%, and iron or steel doors, supports and structures by 5.3% compared with the same month last year.
