Egypt has unified the fee imposed on foreigners departing the country at EGP 100, the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) said, describing the move as an effort to simplify collection procedures and standardize treatment.
ETA Head Rasha Abdel Aal said the latest amendments to the State Financial Resources Development Tax Law aim to streamline the application of existing fees and address practical challenges that have emerged during implementation.
The departure fee has been in place for several years, with the latest amendment seeking to eliminate differences in the amount charged in certain cases and establish a unified rate, Abdel Aal said.
She added that the change responds to requests from the tourism sector to unify the fee and simplify its application, providing greater clarity and stability for tourism companies and individuals.
Abdel Aal said the amendments form part of the Finance Ministry’s ongoing efforts to review and simplify financial legislation and procedures, while addressing implementation challenges and clarifying taxpayers’ obligations.
The ETA will continue providing guidance on legislative amendments and their implementation to citizens and the business community to ensure proper compliance with the law, she added.
