"Egypt is a serious market with tremendous potential that the United States is heavily engaged in," U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce Steven Haines said, as Washington unveiled plans to deepen artificial intelligence cooperation with Egypt through investments in data centers, cloud infrastructure, and Arabic-language AI applications.

 

Speaking at the "From Silicon Valley to the Nile Valley" forum hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Haines outlined a three-pronged agenda aimed at expanding AI collaboration between the two countries.

 

The first priority is identifying commercially viable projects in data centers, cloud infrastructure, and Arabic-language AI applications across industries. The second is connecting qualified Egyptian companies with American AI technology providers, while the third focuses on addressing policy and market-access barriers to facilitate investment.

 

"This is how we move from vision to bankable projects, from projects to commercial agreements, and from agreements to real benefits for the Egyptian people and the Egyptian economy," Haines said.

 

He added that the U.S. Embassy in Cairo is working alongside American companies to support Egyptian partners in developing AI projects built on U.S. technology.

 

Describing Egypt as a market with significant growth potential, Haines encouraged Egyptian companies to present priority projects and investment needs, while calling on U.S. firms to continue engaging with local partners.

 

"The choice facing countries today is not simply which AI model or cloud service provider to use, but which technology ecosystem they want to power the next generation of their economy," he said, adding that the U.S. offers an ecosystem built on security, transparency, intellectual property protection, commercial choice, and respect for national sovereignty.

 

The forum brought together Egyptian government officials, U.S. technology companies, and industry leaders to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and the digital economy.
