Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) has increased its crude oil production to 71,250 barrels per day, marking the company’s highest production level since July 2019.

The increase reflects the positive impact of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ efforts to settle outstanding payments owed to international partners and restore production rates. These efforts form part of the ministry’s strategy to support domestic output by accelerating drilling, exploration and field development activities.

The rapid development of the offshore North Safa field in the Gulf of Suez contributed significantly to the production increase. Following the start-up of the SB293-9 well, the field’s total output exceeded 18,000 barrels per day.

Development work at the field included the installation of a new offshore platform, the construction of connecting pipelines and upgrades to the production system.

GUPCO also successfully commissioned a new turbine compressor at the M36 station as part of Phase IV, helping improve the efficiency and productivity of existing wells.

In parallel, the company continued its exploration activities by drilling the Crystal North East Ramadan exploration well from the El-Fanar offshore platform, supporting prospects for further production growth.

The results highlight the success of the partnership between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and the UAE’s Dragon Oil in converting new projects and discoveries into actual production.

They also support plans to launch more ambitious drilling, development and exploration programs across the Gulf of Suez.
