Egypt’s petroleum sector is witnessing strong momentum in 2026, with plans to drill 101 new oil and gas exploration wells, in addition to production wells aimed at boosting output from existing and newly discovered fields, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi said.

Badawi made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Monday to review several key files related to the ministry’s activities.

The minister said that increased investment by international companies in oil and gas exploration is a key pillar of Egypt’s strategy to strengthen domestic production of natural gas and crude oil.

These efforts are being carried out alongside plans to improve the efficiency and productivity of mature fields through the use of advanced technologies.

Badawi also highlighted ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to attract more local and foreign investment, expand investment partnerships, and increase exploration activities.

He added that the government is also continuing its efforts to list petroleum-sector companies on the Egyptian Exchange.
