Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem held a meeting with a delegation from Egypt Amun Green Ammonia to discuss the implementation of a major green ammonia production project in Egypt.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the details of the project planned for Ras Banas, which aims to begin operations in 2031. The project is set to start with initial investments of $5 billion, rising to $10 billion upon full completion.

The project will rely on an integrated renewable energy system with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts, combining both solar and wind power. This aligns with Egypt’s broader push toward clean energy and reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

It is also considered one of the largest investments in Egypt’s green energy sector, featuring the development of a fully integrated export infrastructure. The project is expected to generate annual exports of up to $490 million, supported by pre-signed export agreements with European markets.

Additionally, the project is projected to create thousands of job opportunities and strengthen local supply chains through the localization of selected production components.

Minister Hashem emphasized that the project is fully aligned with Egypt’s strategy to transition toward a green economy, expand renewable energy usage, and support industries linked to green hydrogen development.
