Ahmed Mounir Ezz El-Din, Chairman of the Economic Relations Development Committee with China at the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, said trade exchange between Egypt and China is expected to increase by up to 10 percent this year, reaching approximately $21 billion, compared to about $19 billion currently.

He explained that China will begin implementing a zero-tariff treatment on Egyptian exports starting May 1, describing the move as a significant step toward boosting bilateral trade and opening wider opportunities for Egyptian products in the Chinese market.

Ezz El-Din noted that the exemption will cover several sectors, including agricultural products, processed foods, construction materials, marble, and fertilizers, which is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian goods and expand their presence across China.

He also projected that Egyptian exports to China could rise by no less than 20 percent in the coming period, driven by the tariff exemption, which provides Egyptian products with greater access to Chinese consumers.

These remarks were made on the sidelines of a visit by a delegation of business leaders from Shandong Province, China, to the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, as part of ongoing efforts to support economic cooperation and strengthen trade relations between the two sides.
