Egypt’s largest gold mine, Sukari, recorded a production increase of nearly 7% year-on-year during the first nine months of 2025, reaching 381,000 ounces compared with 356,000 ounces in the same period last year, according to the financial results of AngloGold Ashanti, the company holding the mine’s concession.
The company noted that Sukari continued its upward trend for the third consecutive quarter, with production rising to 135,000 ounces between July and September 2025, up from 132,000 ounces during the same quarter of 2024.
AngloGold Ashanti added that its total global gold production grew by around 17% in the third quarter of this year, supported by strong performance across several of its operations, most notably Obuasi in Ghana, Sukari in Egypt, and Cuiabá in Brazil.
Last year, AngloGold Ashanti completed its acquisition of Centamin, the owner of the Pharaonic Company for Gold Mines, the joint venture partner with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in operating the Sukari mine, in a deal valued at $2.5 billion.
