Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting with a high-level delegation from BYD Auto, led by Stella Li, Executive Vice President of the company and CEO for the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The talks, attended by Vice Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir, as well as executives from Mansour Group, focused on expanding cooperation to localize electric vehicle (EV) production in Egypt.
Madbouly welcomed the BYD delegation and Mansour Group representatives, highlighting the strength of the partnership between the two sides in joint manufacturing. He stressed the government’s strong commitment to developing Egypt’s EV industry, describing BYD as a global leader with the expertise needed to help drive the country’s green transformation strategy.
El-Wazir praised BYD and Mansour Group for their pioneering role in automotive manufacturing, affirming that the Ministry of Industry would provide full support to ensure the success of their collaboration. Mansour Group officials, in turn, underscored the government’s backing of the automotive sector, noting that their partnership with BYD would enhance EV manufacturing capacity and deliver high-quality products for Egyptian consumers.
During the meeting, Li outlined BYD’s vision for the future of EVs in Egypt, presenting plans to expand in the local market by introducing the latest electric and new energy vehicle models. She also detailed the company’s strategy to strengthen local manufacturing capabilities as part of its long-term commitment to Egypt.
Founded in Shenzhen, China in 1995, BYD has grown from rechargeable battery production into one of the world’s top manufacturers of electric and hybrid vehicles. The company has sold more than 13.4 million new energy vehicles globally, and its product range includes fully electric cars (BEVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), buses, trucks, and commercial fleets.
