Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed during his weekly press conference yesterday that the government will not raise electricity prices this month.
He explained that the decision is part of a broader strategy that takes into account the potential impact of any increase on inflation rates and other economic factors.
Madbouly emphasized the government’s commitment to avoiding additional burdens on citizens at this stage, noting that “no decision has yet been issued regarding raising electricity prices.”
Two days earlier, Enterprise cited a senior government source who said that the planned electricity price hikes had been postponed until the end of the year.
The source stressed that the benefits of containing inflation and enabling the Central Bank to continue cutting interest rates outweigh the potential revenue gains from raising prices.
