Egypt generates $1.5B from gold & silver sales in FY 2024/2025

Egypt produced 640,000 ounces of gold and silver during the fiscal year 2024/2025, marking a 14% increase compared to the previous year, according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Speaking at the Egypt Mining Forum, Badawi revealed that total sales from gold and silver reached approximately $1.5 billion, reflecting a significant 57% year-on-year increase.

In addition to precious metals, Egypt produced 26 million tons of mineral ores and mining products during the same period—up by 39% compared to the previous year.

The country also exported 1.4 million tons of these products, excluding phosphate ore, with a total export value of $52.5 million.

Badawi further noted that total revenues from mineral wealth development reached $446 million during FY 2024/2025, representing a 131% increase from the previous year. This figure includes revenues from gold sales and other mining-related activities.
