Egypt’s automotive sector continued its rebound in April, with total vehicle sales reaching 12,300 units—marking a 14.8% increase compared to 10,800 units sold in March, according to data released by the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC).

The latest figures point to sustained recovery in the market, which began regaining momentum in February after a sharp 22.0% decline in January.

Passenger vehicles led the growth, with sales rising 17.7% month-on-month to 9,800 units, building on gains from the previous month. Truck sales also rose, up 8.9% to 1,900 units. Buses, however, registered a decline, with sales falling 6.6% to 641 units.

Year-on-year data highlights a strong turnaround for the industry. Total vehicle sales in April 2025 were up 117.7% compared to the same month in 2024, when just 5,700 units were sold. Passenger cars climbed 116.2%, bus sales increased by 94.8%, and truck sales saw the sharpest rise, up 135.7% from April 2024 levels.

The broader recovery follows a challenging period for Egypt’s automotive market, which had been heavily impacted by foreign currency shortages and supply disruptions.

Although 2024 began with a steep dip, the market showed resilience last year, recording a 13.2% annual increase with 102,200 units sold. That partial rebound came as import conditions stabilized and demand gradually returned, supported by adjusted pricing strategies from distributors.
