Ezz Steel’s Eng. Ahmed Ezz elected as new chair of Arab Iron and Steel Union

Ezz won the election against the nominee of the Kuwait Steel Company.

The General Assembly and the Board of Directors of the Arab Iron and Steel Union (AISU) have elected Engineer Ahmed Ezz, founder of Ezz Steel Company, as the new Chairman of the Union during its session held in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Ezz won the election against the nominee of the Kuwait Steel Company.

The Arab Iron and Steel Union is the largest specialized Arab industrial union, comprising 75 prominent Arab steel companies, including Saudi SABIC, Emirates Iron, Qatar Steel, Libyan Iron and Steel Company (Misurata), Algerian Hadjar, Tunisian STEG, and Moroccan Maghreb Steel, in addition to iron ore mining companies in Mauritania and Algeria.

Ezz Steel Company maintained its position as the largest Arab steel company, according to the World Steel Association's 2024 ranking.

Notably, Engineer Ahmed Ezz had previously been elected as Chairman of the Arab Iron and Steel Union in 2008 before resigning in January 2011.
