Egypt’s automotive market maintained its upward trajectory in March, with total vehicle sales reaching 10,800 units, according to data from the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC).
This marks a modest increase from February’s 10,600 units and signals a continuation of the sector’s recovery that began after a steep January decline.
The uptick in March comes after the market saw a 22% slump in January, highlighting an ongoing rebound. The passenger car segment led the monthly growth with 8,400 units sold — a 2.6% rise compared to February. Bus sales surged 11.4% month-on-month to 686 units, while truck sales dipped by 5.2%, totaling 1,700 units.
Year-on-year data paints an even more optimistic picture: total auto sales in March 2025 surged 156.5% compared to the same month last year, when just 4,200 units were sold. Passenger vehicle sales alone jumped 203.9% year-on-year, while buses and trucks posted annual increases of 31.4% and 85.7%, respectively.
The latest figures underscore the sector’s ongoing rebound following a challenging period marked by foreign currency shortages that disrupted supply chains and pushed prices higher.
In 2024, the market began showing signs of recovery, registering a 13.2% year-on-year increase with 102,200 vehicles sold over the course of the year.
