Chairman of the Leather Export Council, Mahmoud Serag, announced that the development of Robbiki Leather City aims to significantly enhance leather production to 250 million square feet annually, reflecting a 280% increase.
The initiative also focuses on increasing the output of finished leather products to boost value addition, create job opportunities, and double exports to exceed $300 million annually.
Following the conclusion of the inaugural event for ready-made factories at Robbiki Leather City, Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, toured the city’s third phase, included in the new offering.
This phase spans 111 acres, fully equipped with infrastructure and roads. The Prime Minister inspected several ready-made factories available to investors, assessing the quality of services and facilities that position the city as an attractive hub for major companies producing high-end leather products under the Made in Egypt label, ready for export to global markets.
Additionally, he visited an operating tannery in the first phase of Robbiki Leather City.
Madbouly praised the skill and expertise of the Egyptian workforce, highlighting their ability to manufacture competitive products for international markets.
He emphasized that the first phase of Robbiki, covering 176 acres, represents a fully integrated system utilizing the latest global technologies in leather tanning.
The initiative also aims to minimize environmental impacts associated with the tanning industry—a goal that has been effectively realized, as observed during his tour of the city’s various tanning processes.
