Egypt's Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchok, held a bilateral meeting with Zhongjing Wang, the inaugural CEO of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) in China, during the 2024 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank meetings in Uzbekistan. He identified sectors such as clean transport, renewable energy, and water management as key areas for collaboration.
He also noted that innovative financing methods, such as blended finance, could further stimulate private investments in logistics and the management of ports and airports. Kouchok expressed Egypt's interest in expanding the scope of the MCDF’s work to include more regional and non-regional countries.
Moreover, Kouchok proposed the establishment of a global platform through the MCDF to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise in development finance. He highlighted Egypt's active role in regional development through joint projects in the Middle East and Africa.
