SCZONE & HiTech sign $20M contract for sportswear factory

The planned factory will be the Thai company’s first factory in the Middle East and Africa and will provide 1,500 jobs

Egypt’s General Authority Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed a usufruct contract with Thai ready-made garment company, HiTech Apparel, to establish a sportswear factory in the Qantara West industrial zone with $20M investments.

The planned factory will be the Thai company’s first factory in the Middle East and Africa and will provide 1,500 jobs.

The contract was signed by Chairman of SCZONE, Walid Gamal El-Din, and CEO of HiTech, Wason Vitanakorn.

”The strategic partnership between SCZONE and Thailand is the first of its kind, reflecting the success of SCZONE’s promotional efforts in the past period. SCZONE aims to establish a global clothing and textiles complex in Qantara West, Ismailia, promising industrial zone that has succeeded in attracting investments from different countries in various fields, with the textile and clothing industry at the forefront” SCZONE Chairman said.

The company aims to expedite the progress of work to ensure that the foundation stone for the factory is laid during the latter half of this year, with operations commencing in the second half of 2025.
