Egypt’s manufacturing & extractive industries index decreases 3.86% in September

The manufacturing and extractive industries hit 100.86 in September 2023, a slight decrease from 104.91 which was recorded in August 2023

The index for manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, decreased by 3.86% in September 2023 compared to August 2023, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported.

The manufacturing and extractive industries hit 100.86 in September 2023, in a slight decrease from 104.91 which was recorded in August 2023.

The electrical appliances industry index reached 112.51 during September 2023 compared to August 2023, where it reached 128.09, in a 12.16% decrease this is due to the lack of availability of raw materials necessary for production.

The transportation equipment industry decreased by 25.63% to record 87.68 during September 2023 compared to August 2023 where it recorded 117.90.

On a more positive note, production of pharmaceuticals increased by 3.07% monthly and the paper products output increased by 2.32% during September 2023.

The index for industrial production is a monthly economic indicator measuring real output in the manufacturing, mining, electric, and gas industries, relative to the base year 2012/2013.
