Ace, a French smartphone manufacturer, is now producing phones at Sico Egypt’s factory in Assiut, local media reported.
The company is investing around EGP 150 to 200 million in its operations, media outlets stated.
Ace along with KG Tech, its local distributor, launched three smartphones and four feature phones. The smartphone manufacturer plans to produce tablets in the second half of this year and to export some of its phones to countries in West Africa in addition to selling them here in Egypt.
Last week, Mohamed Abdel Hady, a member of the Engineering Industries Chamber at the Federation of Industries, emphasized the crucial role of the government in endorsing immediate and exceptional incentives for factories and companies that target increasing the local component in their products and working on providing local alternatives for imported products that cost the state billions of dollars.
This comes in line with the Egyptian government carrying out incentives for factories and companies to increase local components in products.
