Food exports up $51M in export value during H1 2022 | Food Export Council

According to FEC, the number of Egyptian companies and factories exporting during H1 2022 within the sector is around 1,678, including 302 companies whose exports exceed $1 million

Egypt’s food industries exports grew by 2.4% annually, around $51 million in export value, to hit $2.169 billion during the first half of 2022, compared to $2.118 billion recorded in 2021’s first half, according to new data from the Food Export Council (FEC).

June 2022 saw food industries exports drop in value by 8%, recording $361 million compared to June 2021’s registered $393 million.

According to FEC, the number of Egyptian companies and factories exporting during H1 2022 within the sector is around 1,678, including 302 companies whose exports exceed $1 million.

Despite falling 3% in H1 2022, Egypt’s exports to Arab countries represented around 50% of total food exports, reaching $1.08 billion in value.

The second largest bloc was the European Union, representing 20% of Egypt’s food exports at a value of $425 million. The US came third after raising its import of Egyptian food industry by 31%, representing 7% of the country’s food exports at a value of $144 million.

In terms of singular countries, Saudi Arabia was Egypt’s biggest importer in value, importing Egyptian food items worth $198 million, an increase of 25% when compared to H1 2021.
