Egyptian engineering exports climbed by 27% to hit $1.8 billion during the first half of 2022, up from H1 2021’s $1.4 billion, revealed the Engineering Export Council of Egypt’s (EECE) latest report.

On a monthly basis, engineering exports saw a more modest increase of 4% in June 2022 to hit $303 million, compared to June 2021’s $291 million. In May, Egypt exported engineering materials worth $264.7 million.

According to the EECE report, exports of electrical appliances rose by 49% year-on-year, cables by 60%, household appliances by 10%, machinery by 117%, and metals by 46%.

Earlier this month, the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries (ECBM) revealed that Egyptian exports of cast iron and steel increased 12% during the first 5 months of 2022, registering about $667 million compared to $597 million in the same period a year earlier.

Spain led the countries that imported the most Egyptian iron and steel with imports recording $142.138 million, followed by Italy with $120.28 million, and Saudi Arabia $85.093 million.
