Egyptian engineering exports hit $3B for the first time in history

On a monthly basis, engineering exports also saw an unprecedented hike of 51% in November 2021

Marking its place in history, Egyptian engineering exports reached $3.002 billion in the 11 months of 2021, climbing 45% compared to the $2.073 billion during the same period in 2020, according to a press statement released by the Engineering Exports Council (EEC).

On a monthly basis, engineering exports also saw an unprecedented hike of 51% in November 2021, recording $354.8 million, compared to $234.9 million in the same month in 2020, according to the EEC.

Egyptian exports jumped by 40% in the first 9 months of 2021, recording $29.7 billion in the January-September months of 2021, while non-petroleum exports jumped by 26% year-on-year (YoY), reaching $26.9 billion during the first 10 months of 2021.

EEC’s statement noted that the highest growing engineering export sectors in the 11M of 2021 were tableware and Cables by 97 %; Home Appliances 48%; Electrical Products 41%; automotive parts by 41 % and electrical and electronic industries by 31%.

The countries receiving most of Egypt’s engineering exports are The United Kingdom; Turkey; France; Italy; Russia; Germany; Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Greece in Europe while Saudi Arabia; UAE; Iraq; Jordan; China and Lebanon in Asia and Algeria; Morocco; Sudan; Libya; South Africa; Nigeria and Tunisia in Africa.
