The number of inbound tourists also saw a 59.6% increase, rising from 9.9 million in 2014 to 15.8 million in 2024. The country aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2032 at the latest.
According to Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, in 2023, the country's tourism sector experienced a 14% growth compared to pre-COVID levels, with positive results in both tourist numbers and revenue generation.
This growth aligns with the incoming tourism trends from Egypt’s target markets throughout this year.
Egypt’s tourism industry is expected to recover with an estimated 15.3 million visitors by the end of 2024, a 5% increase over 2023, despite ongoing regional challenges, according to Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy.
The tourism sector revenues amounted to $6.6 billion in the first half of 2024 and this represents a 5% increase compared to the $6.3 billion generated during the same period in 2023.
