The new parliament headquarters, located near the governmental district in the new administrative capital, spans an area of 126,000 square meters. The headquarters comprises an 8-story building housing the main hall designed to accommodate one thousand members, with offices for approximately 3,200 employees. Additionally, it includes several service buildings. The parliament headquarters previously won the award for Best Project in the Government Buildings category at the 2021 ENR Global Arbitration Competition, according to official data.
The swearing-in ceremony at the parliament headquarters in the administrative capital signifies "the beginning of a new era for Egypt, based on the rule of law and institutions, and the continuation of the achievements made over the past decade on all fronts." This includes, most importantly on the domestic front, preserving national security, combating terrorism, implementing various social protection programs, embarking on economic reform to confront global challenges, fostering an investment-friendly climate, and amending the Egyptian constitution while reinstating the parliamentary system with its two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate," he added.
After the session, el-Sisi will raise Egypt's flag at the monument in the People's Square in the New Administrative Capital, marking the inauguration of the first phase of the capital's project. The activities of the House of Representatives will then return to its old headquarters in downtown Cairo after the oath-taking session in the New Administrative Capital, until all preparations for the new headquarters are completed.
