Head of the State Information Services, Diaa Rashwan, announced that Egyptian and Qatari diplomatic efforts have successfully navigated obstacles to the fourth phase of the truce in Gaza. The imminent exchange of detainees, set to transpire in the coming hours, involves 11 Israelis and 33 Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Foreign Ministry disclosed an agreement to extend the humanitarian truce between Hamas and Israel for an additional two days in Gaza. Diaa Rashwan had previously hinted at the likelihood of extending the brokered truce.
During the extended truce period, 10 detainees, including women and children, will be released daily in Gaza. In reciprocation, 30 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody will be set free, resulting in a cumulative release of 20 Israelis versus 60 Palestinians over the two-day extension.
Rashwan outlined the comprehensive terms of the extended truce, emphasizing the continuation of the ceasefire throughout the entire Gaza Strip. Additionally, provisions include the unimpeded entry of medical, food, and fuel aid, accompanied by a prohibition on Israeli flights over the Gaza Strip.
Anticipating today's exchange, Rashwan indicated ongoing negotiations for the release of 33 Palestinians from the Israeli side. Meanwhile, Israeli media reports suggested a prevailing inclination in Israel to extend the truce, with the War Council in Tel Aviv expected to convene for consultations. Israeli sources noted a willingness to accept the extension after consulting with regional and international stakeholders.
On the Hamas front, the organization affirmed its intention to pursue serious discussions and negotiations to extend the truce in Gaza. This initiative aims to expand the number of detainees released in adherence to the terms outlined in the humanitarian truce agreement with Israel.
The "humanitarian truce," brokered through Egyptian-Qatari mediation between Hamas and Israel, is slated to conclude on Tuesday morning.
