Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson and Director of Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that Sameh Shoukry received a phone call on Tuesday from Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa to discuss the conditions in Gaza.

During the conversation, Kamikawa briefed Shoukry on the key points discussed in the recent Group of Seven (G7) Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Japan regarding the Gaza situation.

Shoukry reiterated Egypt's stance, emphasizing the international community's responsibility to halt Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians. He urged for unequivocal positions against severe Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights, emphasizing the need to stop the bloodshed, particularly among women and children, who represent over seventy percent of the victims.

Abu Zeid added that Shoukry, during the call, emphasized Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians within or outside Gaza. He stressed the importance of sustaining sufficient humanitarian aid to the region. In response, the Japanese Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Egypt's role in containing the crisis, delivering necessary humanitarian aid to Gaza, and evacuating foreign nationals.

Additionally, Shoukry condemned Israeli practices violating international law and humanitarian principles, including collective punishment policies and blockades. He criticized the double standards of some countries that refrain from condemning Israeli violations while adopting different positions in other armed conflicts.

On a related note, the ministers discussed international efforts to prevent the escalation of violence and the expansion of conflict in the region. Shoukry affirmed Egypt's commitment to continued consultation and coordination with Japan, highlighting Japan's influential role on the global stage.
