Egypt’s EGX 30 hits record high near 56,300 points as market cap tops EGP 4.4T

The advance came amid buying by local and Arab institutions and investment funds, alongside foreign individual investors, while foreign institutions and Egyptian and Arab individual investors were net sellers.

Egypt’s benchmark EGX 30 index rose 1.06% on Thursday to a record 56,270.32 points, as broad-based gains pushed the market’s total capitalization up by around EGP 38 billion to EGP 4.418 trillion.
 
The advance came amid buying by local and Arab institutions and investment funds, alongside foreign individual investors, while foreign institutions and Egyptian and Arab individual investors were net sellers.
 
The EGX 70 index, which tracks small- and mid-cap stocks, gained 0.37% to close at 21,302.67 points. The broader EGX 100 index also advanced 0.55% to 27,898.74 points.
 
Total market turnover reached around EGP 111.6 billion, including transactions in bonds and Treasury bills as well as ownership-transfer deals. Equity-market trading stood at approximately EGP 14 billion.
 
The gains came as the benchmark moved closer to the 56,300-point level, approaching a new record high.
