Jan 29 | EGX sees high-gains at start of week

Today’s trading saw 552.68 million shares traded with a turnover of EGP 2.50 billion

The Egyptian Exchange started the week in the green with significant gains across the board.

Benchmark index EGX 30 jumped by 3.69% to 17,411.46 points, with EGX 50 climbing 2.10% to end the session at 2,985.88 points.

EGX 70 was up by 0.91% to 3,059.73 points, while EGX 100 saw gains of 1.48% at 4,601.45 points.

Today’s trading saw 552.68 million shares traded with a turnover of EGP 2.50 billion.

Market capitalization was recorded at EGP 1.112 trillion, an additional EGP 49 billion compared to Wednesday’s EGP 1063 trillion. The EGX was off on Thursday due to Police Day/Revolution Day.

Trading on securities saw foreign and Arab investors as net sellers with EGP 77.07 million and EGP 54.56 million, respectively. Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 131.63 million.

The top gains of the session were Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance which climbed by 19.69%, Telecom Egypt by 14.67%, and Suez Canal Bank S.A.E by 12.34%.

The largest losses of the session were by Cairo Pharmaceuticals which dropped by 5.11%, Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) by 4.6%, and Kafr El Zayat Pesticides by 4.42%.
