HDB wins Fastest Growing Commercial Bank at Global Brands Awards

HDB Chairman and Managing Director, Hassan Ghanem, highlighted the award as a culmination of the bank’s continuous efforts and ambitious strategy

Egypt’s Housing and Development Bank (HDB) won 2 major Banking/Finance awards at this year’s Global Brands Awards by Global Brands magazine, receiving "The Fastest Growing Commercial Bank" and "The Fastest Growing Bank Issuing Cards" awards.

HDB Chairman and Managing Director, Hassan Ghanem, highlighted the award as a culmination of the bank’s continuous efforts and ambitious strategy.

The Global Brands Awards shines a spotlight on global brands achieving excellence in performance and innovation in various sectors, keeping its readers updated on key trends, and are granted according to several specialized technical criteria, according to the evaluation of elite experts in all fields.

Ghanem pointed out that the award showcases the bank’s remarkable development in the provision of all banking services and products with high competitiveness, particularly with digital products, achieving distinct growth rates despite the pandemic.

The Housing and Development Bank has always believed in the importance of expanding the use of electronic payments, in line with the policy of the Central Bank, added Ghanem.

The bank has always put the issue of financial inclusion and digital transformation at the top of its priorities and concerns, he explained, especially with the technological boom that the world has witnessed in the recent time, and this was demonstrated through the bank’s keenness in providing various electronic services to its customers, such as internet banking, mobile banking and e-wallet.

The Housing and Development Bank saw an increase in the rate of issuance and use of cards in the previous period, with Ghanem adding that the bank had signed a long-term partnership agreement with the International MasterCard Corporation to stimulate the use of electronic payments, in addition to prepaid cards, especially the "Meeza" card.

Hassan Ghanem stressed the bank's constant keenness to develop and provide competitive banking services that enjoy the satisfaction and confidence of its customers, and enhance its position as one of the largest local banks in Egypt.

The bank’s plan for geographical expansion to deploy ATMs in various parts of the republic in accordance with the initiative of the Central Bank has achieved outstanding results, as the bank achieved an increase rate of up to 30% during the year 2020.
