Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries index saw a climb of 14.49% in June 2021, recording 117.80 (primary), compared to 102.89 in May (final), according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

CAPMAS noted that the index saw a positive climb despite the decline of some economic activities, mainly the mining and other quarry industries, and attributed the overall increase to the beverage industry’s index.

The beverage industry jumped 13.23%, reaching 368.63 during June 2021, compared to 325.56 in May 2021, as the industry worked to meet the annual rise in demand during summer months.

CAPMAS mentioned that the mining and quarry industry saw a fall of 16.08%, recording 201.01 during June 2021, compared to 239.54 in May 2021, while the basic metals manufacturing index saw a 1.26% drop with a recording of 67.03 in June, down from 67.89 in May 2021.

Egypt’s non-oil exports increased by 4% year-on-year in July 2021, hitting $2.095 billion, climbing 22% YoY in the first 7 months of the year overall.
