China’s Linglong Tire is planning to establish an integrated industrial complex in Egypt to produce passenger car, bus and equipment tires, as well as conveyor belts, under a memorandum of understanding signed with the Ministry of Industry.
The agreement was signed by Industry Minister Khaled Hashem and Wang Lin, Vice Chairman of Linglong Tire, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The planned complex is expected to attract around $2 billion in investments and create more than 5,000 jobs, according to the Industry Ministry.
The project will also include supporting industries and production inputs, including carbon black and steel cords, creating an integrated local value chain for tire manufacturing.
The ministry said the project is designed to support technology and knowledge transfer, develop local skills and capabilities, and strengthen integration across industries linked to tire production.
Production will target Egypt’s domestic market while also being directed toward exports to European and US markets, supporting local value addition and the competitiveness of Egyptian-made products globally.
Hashem said the project is part of the ministry’s strategy to localize complementary and supporting industries, deepen domestic manufacturing and complete supply chains, particularly in the automotive sector and related industries.
The initiative is also expected to increase local content, reduce reliance on imports and create opportunities to expand production and exports, as Egypt seeks to strengthen its position as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and components.
