Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed expanding private sector participation in key sectors, including energy, water and infrastructure.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom and Ary Naïm, IFC Regional Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa.
Rostom stressed the importance of accelerating private sector participation in national projects, particularly in energy, water and infrastructure, noting that the government is working to develop regulatory and legislative frameworks to create a more attractive environment for local and foreign investment.
Naïm highlighted growth opportunities in the Egyptian market and said the IFC looks forward to providing technical, advisory and financing support for infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships (PPPs), in addition to supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The meeting also addressed upcoming international events hosted by Egypt, with Rostom inviting the IFC to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF 2026), scheduled to take place in Cairo from November 6 to 8.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination to translate the proposed areas of cooperation into ongoing programs supporting economic growth and job creation.
