The agreement reflects the growing cooperation between the two countries in maritime transport and logistics services.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Montenegro Ports Authority, on the sidelines of the official visit of Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović to Egypt.
The agreement reflects the growing cooperation between the two countries in maritime transport and logistics services.
The MoU was signed by Vice Admiral Ehab Salah, Chairman of the Alexandria Port Authority, on behalf of Egypt, and Stanko Dretic, Chairman of the Montenegro Ports Authority, in the presence of senior officials from both countries.
The agreement aims to establish an institutional framework for cooperation in port management and operations, knowledge exchange, digital transformation, capacity building and environmental sustainability.
It also provides for exploring opportunities to develop maritime links between the two countries’ ports, supporting supply chains and boosting trade and investment flows.
The MoU comes amid Egypt’s unprecedented efforts to develop port infrastructure, upgrade operational facilities and modernize logistics services, in line with the political leadership’s directives.
These efforts seek to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit trade, while creating promising opportunities for broader cooperation with international partners.
Both sides highlighted that the strategic locations of Egypt and Montenegro on the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas offer significant potential for a maritime and logistics partnership connecting European markets with the Middle East and North Africa.
Such cooperation is expected to advance the shared interests of the two countries and strengthen trade connectivity between their respective regions.
The signing also reflects the Alexandria Port Authority’s commitment to expanding its network of international partnerships with leading ports and maritime authorities.
These partnerships support knowledge exchange, technology transfer and improvements in the efficiency of Egyptian ports, while contributing to the Ministry of Transport’s objectives of modernizing the maritime transport system and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian ports at both regional and international levels.
