Egypt is looking forward to boosting partnerships with the private medical sector to establish a comprehensive health insurance system, said Finance Minister Mohamed Maait.

Maait, also Chairperson of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, highlighted that efforts towards integrating the comprehensive health insurance system, the medical insurance industry, and health care services are underway.

The efforts made to strengthen the partnership between the public and private medical sectors and the integration are to ensure the provision of various health services to the beneficiaries, with better quality, he added.

Maait highlighted that the medical insurance sector is an authentic partner in efforts to provide health care under the umbrella of the comprehensive health insurance system.

Alongside these efforts, Maait talked about serious action to seal deals with major private hospitals and health centers in all governorates, but only once they have been approved by the General Authority for Control and Accreditation.

This should help expand the network of health insurance services across Egypt, thus alleviating the burden on citizens, the minister said.
