Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received today at Al-Ittihadiya Palace the President of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening economic, industrial, and investment cooperation between the two sides.
The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, alongside several Egyptian and Tatarstan ministers and senior officials, reflecting the strategic importance both sides attach to expanding bilateral relations, particularly in trade, industry, agriculture, and cultural exchange.
According to an official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, President El-Sisi welcomed Minnikhanov and conveyed his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He highlighted the strong momentum in Egypt–Russia strategic relations across multiple sectors, noting that cooperation with Tatarstan represents a growing dimension within the broader partnership.
El-Sisi also praised Tatarstan’s notable development progress, particularly in industrial manufacturing, technology, and agriculture, emphasizing Egypt’s interest in leveraging this experience to support its own development agenda. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding economic ties with both the Russian Federation and Tatarstan.
A key focus of the discussions was the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, a flagship investment project expected to serve as a major hub for Russian and international manufacturers targeting African and Middle Eastern markets. President El-Sisi called for greater participation from Tatarstan-based industrial developers and investors in the project, signaling opportunities for joint ventures and technology transfer.
The talks also addressed broader economic cooperation, including agriculture, industrial production, tourism, education, and cultural industries. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing private sector engagement and facilitating investment flows to maximize mutual economic benefits.
Minnikhanov expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated Tatarstan’s strong interest in deepening economic and investment cooperation with Egypt. He noted that bilateral relations have advanced significantly in recent years, referencing his previous visit to Cairo in 2018 and the Egyptian President’s historic visit to Kazan in 2024 for the BRICS summit.
He also commended Egypt’s regional role in promoting stability in the Middle East and Africa, praising its ongoing diplomatic and economic initiatives under President El-Sisi’s leadership.
The Tatarstan delegation highlighted opportunities for collaboration in industrial modernization, agricultural innovation, and cultural exchange, positioning Egypt as a key gateway for expanding Tatarstan’s economic presence in Africa.
The meeting concluded with an invitation from the Tatarstan side for President El-Sisi to include a visit to the city of Kazan in any future trip to Russia, an invitation that was warmly welcomed by the Egyptian President.
The discussions underscore a growing trend of regional partnerships being integrated into broader international economic frameworks, particularly in relation to industrial zones, export-oriented manufacturing, and cross-border investment initiatives.
