Several petroleum companies have successfully made new discoveries in Egypt’s Western Desert, with total production estimated at more than 5,200 barrels per day of crude oil and condensates, in addition to approximately 34 million cubic feet of gas per day.

These achievements come as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ ongoing efforts to offset the natural decline in output from mature fields, reduce the country’s import bill, and boost domestic production to meet the needs of key consumption sectors.

According to a statement issued by the ministry today, Khalda Petroleum Company achieved two new gas discoveries.

The first, North Obaiyed–2, located in the Matrouh Development Area, had previously been announced and tested.

Test results confirmed production rates of 21.15 million cubic feet of gas per day, along with 3,274 barrels of condensates.

The well is scheduled to be connected to the production network by mid-month.

The company also recorded a second discovery at West Dabaa–2X in the West Dabaa concession area.

Well testing results showed production rates of 4.15 million cubic feet of gas per day and 336 barrels of condensates.

Procedures to connect the well to the production network are currently underway.

In the same context, the General Petroleum Company achieved a new oil discovery, GPD-1X, in the Sennan Development Area.

Test results indicated a production rate of 625 barrels of oil per day, and the well has already been connected to production.

Meanwhile, Petro Farah, in partnership with United Energy, announced the SEMR D-3X discovery.

Initial test results revealed a production rate of 647 barrels of oil per day, with plans to connect the well to production following the signing of the development agreement.

At Agiba Petroleum Company, the Nada-NE-4 well has been drilled, and evaluation results were positive.

The well is expected to produce approximately 340 barrels of oil per day and 9 million cubic feet of gas per day.
