Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across several sectors.
The agreements were signed on the sidelines of high-level talks between the two leaders, reflecting a shared commitment to deepening political, economic, and institutional ties between Egypt and Türkiye.
Among the most prominent agreements was a framework military agreement between the governments of Egypt and Türkiye. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Mageed Saqr, and Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler.
In the healthcare sector, an MoU was signed between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency to enhance cooperation in regulating pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Türkiye’s Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu.
The two sides also signed two memoranda of understanding in the agricultural field, covering cooperation in plant quarantine and veterinary services. These were signed by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Aaty, and Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan.
To boost economic ties, a joint ministerial statement was signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of investment. The statement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, and Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat.
In the social sector, an MoU was signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity and Türkiye’s Ministry of Family and Social Services to strengthen cooperation in social protection. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, and Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Additionally, Egypt and Türkiye signed an MoU on youth and sports cooperation between the two countries’ ministries of youth and sports. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, and Türkiye’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak.
The signed agreements underscore the expanding scope of Egypt–Türkiye relations and support efforts by both countries to advance cooperation in defense, health, trade, agriculture, social development, and youth engagement.
