Manufacturing and extractive industries index goes up 12.25%: CAPMAS

Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries for March 2021 saw a climb of 12.25 percent month-on-month (MoM), stated a new Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) report.

The index’s benchmark, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, recorded an initial 116.84 in March from 104.09 in February.

The beverage industry index saw an increase of 18.04 percent, going from 199.75 in February to 235.80 during March 2021, contributed to increased demand due to the summer season.

The chemical materials and products manufacturing industry index managed a bigger climb, recording a 20.03 percent increase to record at 235.80 in March, compared to 199.75 a month earlier, wrote CAPMAS.

The index of manufacturing of computers, electronics, and medical equipment declined by 20.77 percent MoM to 105.90 in March from 133.66 in February.

The manufacturing of other machinery and equipment index fell by 7.31 percent to 192.68 in March from 207.86 a month earlier.
